rooflite™ Extensive MC

rooflite™ extensive mc is an engineered growing media designed for extensive green roofs in multi-course construction.

Extensive greenroofs have a typical depth of 3 – 6 inches. Their saturated weight is 15 – 30 pounds per square foot. The extensive roof environment is ideal for the growth of drought-tolerant plants, particular succulents like sedum. They do not need irrigation and only little maintenance.

In some areas they use the name ecoroof and define them as: "a living vegetated ecosystem of lightweight soil and self-sustaining vegetation. It is biologically "alive" and as such provides a protective cover on the building by using the natural elements of sun, wind and rain to sustain itself. The ecoroof requires little maintenance and provides an aesthetic alternative, with economic and ecological attributes not found in a conventional roof.”

rooflite™ extensive mc can be used in combination with rooflite™ drain or any other drainage system.

While 2”-4” depth will support hardy succulents like Sedum and Delosperma species, a depth of 5” or more will also support other hardy perennials and grasses.
